There are numerous categories that different sites fall under. Please use this guide to confirm what category your site belongs to before submitting.Awards:-
Sites at which there is a nomination and winning process.
Blends:-
Sites showcaing blends; any blends challenge sites should come under this as opposed to 'Awards'.
Blogs:-
Sites containing only a blog (weblog, online diary). Anything with more content will be deemed a 'Personal' or 'Domain' site (depending on the URL) and moved to the relevant category. Blogs must be hosted by domain owners or people hosted by domain owners (LiveJournals, Diaryland, Xanga, Blogdrive, etc. will only be listed in exceptional circumstances, usually by design.)
Cliques:-
Sites where groups of people with a similar interest in a particular topic/issue come together, join up, and promote their interest in that certain thing.
Collectives:-
Sites which include all websites run by one owner but websites are hosted on differing domains to that of the collective. For example, if I run three sites (A, B and C), and each is hosted by different people (1, 2 and 3 respectively), then the site I listed my other sites on would be deemed a 'Collective'.
Domains:-
Sites that end in a .com, .net, .org, .co.uk and the like are to be submitted here - hosted sites (such as http://blah.com/mememe or http://mememe.blah.com) will come under 'Personal' or 'Blogs' (depending on their content). .Cjb.net, .tk and other redirection URLs are not domains. No commercial sites are to be submitted.
Fanlistings:-
Sites that are a place for all fans of a particular topic to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that topic. Fanlistings DO need to be approved by The Fanlistings Network or The Anime Fanlistings Network.
Fansites:-
Sites that are built by a fan or fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. that are providing a source of information to visitors (such as images, news, multimedia, etc.). If you have a fanlisting attached to your fansite, you can submit your fansite, your fanlisting or both, providing they have separate URLs (e.g. http://fanlisting.fansite.com and http://fansite.com and so on).
Forums/Message Boards:-
Sites where numerous people can join an online community and chat about anything, but usually about a certain central interest. (Boards hosted on free board providers will only be listed in exceptional circumstances).
Graphics:-
Sites that offer free layouts and/or graphics, either custom-made, pre-made or both, or sites that graphics can be ordered from.
Hatelistings:-
The opposite to a fanlisting. Hatelistings DO need to be approved by TheHatelistings.Net.
Listings/Web Directories:-
Sites such as this one, that provide the service of listing other sites for free.
Miscellaneous:-
Sites that do not fit any other category listed.
Network:-
Sites which include all websites run by one owner on the same domain. This is opposed to a 'Collective'. A Network site lists all the websites run on that particular domain by the same owner.
Personal:-
All sites run but an owner or owners; can contain a blog, content for visitors, pictures, or anything else that the owner wishes. URLs ending with .com, .net, .org, .co.uk and the like will be listed in 'Domains'.
Portals:-
Any type of webcam portal - STRICTLY NO NUDITY.
Portfolios:-
Sites put together for the showcase of one's personal work, usually in design, but can be writing, HTML skills, other forms of art, or anything that is the owner's expertise.
Reviews:-
Sites that offer the free service of reviewing other sites on request, and giving an opinion on what could be changed, what is liked, etc.
Rotations/Exchanges:-
Sites made for the promotion of members' sites. Usually offers a sign-up process, then a code to be places on each member's site to promote other members from that rotation. Includes screenshot exchanges/rotations.
Topsites:-
Sites that list the top 10, 20, 50, etc. that will assist in creating hits. Sites are usually voluntarily submitted, and follow a particular topic/idea (e.g. graphics, personal, domains, etc.)
Tutorials:-
Sites that contain ONLY tutorials on anything, including webdesign, craft, etc. Sites that contain tutorials but other content as well will be moved to the relevant category.
Webrings:-
A list of sites with a common interest/topic. Webring codes usually contain something like < # webring ? >
Webzines:-
Online magazines, run like ordinary magazines, with articles, interactivities, polls, etc.
